According to me, there is a mistake in the second code snippet in chapter 14.4 Session disconnection (http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/reference/html/transactions.html#transactions-s4

In the Later on: section, I think the transaction should be obtained as follows:

Code:

s.reconnect();
try {
    tx = s.beginTransaction();

rather than:

Code:

s.reconnect();
try {
    tx = sessions.beginTransaction();

In this example, the sessions var refers to the SessionFactory rather than the Session.
