Ok I was getting this error using hibernate, but now I adapted the c3p0 and I still get this error. This error happens after about 8 hours of runtime. My understanding that mysql kills the connection after 8 hours (default installation, did not change mysql), but I added c3p0 and also added the "test connection on checkout", which should keep conn alive, but it fails!!

Plz save hair on my head!!! I feel like I tried everything

This is my configuration:

src/java/hibernate.cfg.xml
Code:
<hibernate-configuration>
  <session-factory>
    <property name="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.MySQLDialect</property>
    <property name="hibernate.connection.driver_class">com.mysql.jdbc.Driver</property>
    <property name="hibernate.connection.url">jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/imagequiz?zeroDateTimeBehavior=convertToNull</property>
    <property name="hibernate.connection.username">root</property>
    <property name="hibernate.connection.password">ppppp</property>
    <property name="hibernate.show_sql">true</property>
    <property name="hibernate.current_session_context_class">thread</property>
    <!--property name="hibernate.query.factory_class">org.hibernate.hql.classic.ClassicQueryTranslatorFactory</property>
    <!-- this is for the connection pool c3p0, also check c3p0.properties in root of classpath -->
    <property name="connection.provider_class">org.hibernate.connection.C3P0ConnectionProvider</property>

    <property name="hibernate.c3p0.acquire_increment">1</property>
    <property name="hibernate.c3p0.idle_test_period">100</property>
    <property name="hibernate.c3p0.timeout">150</property>
    <property name="hibernate.c3p0.max_size">25</property>
    <property name="hibernate.c3p0.min_size">1</property>
    <property name="hibernate.c3p0.max_statement">50</property>
    <property name="hibernate.c3p0.preferredTestQuery">select 1;</property>

    <!-- no "connection.pool_size" entry! -->
    <mapping class="" file="" jar="" package="" resource="org/imagequiz/dao/IQCase.hbm.xml"/>
  </session-factory>
</hibernate-configuration>

Here is my c3p0.properties located in src/java/c3p0.properties
Code:
c3p0.testConnectionOnCheckout=true
c3p0.idleConnectionTestPeriod = 100

this is the error I get (shortened stacktrace, let me know if you want the whole thing):
