Deploying a hibernate service on Amazon EC2

Is it possible to deploy a service that uses hibernate on Amazon EC2 or other cloud platform?
If so, please share some pointers. If not, what have people done to retrofit their service for
deployment on Amazon EC2 or other cloud platform.

there's absolutely no change required to run Hibernate on Ec2 than on any other system.
In fact, I use EC2 quiet often to test out Hibernate related stuff.

I thought EC2 required using their persistence layer. I guess I was mistaken.

Would hibernate-spatial be supported too? If so how?

quite mistaken yes, it looks like you're mixing up different things - I have no clue about how they should be related.
