I have a simple inheritance hierarchy using the joined subclass strategy where I would like to be able to query and retrieve just the (non-abstract) superclass instances without having outer joins performed against all of the subclasses. Is this possible?

Any responses? I'd think this isn't terribly uncommon, though it's not in the documentation...
