Java Persistence with Hibernate (JPWH) is the reference standard for Hibernate, and is a resource everyone should have. And that's coming from me, the author of "
Hibernate Made Easy."
One thing I do find, and it was my motivation to write "Hibernate Made Easy" is that JPWH isn't always the best learning tool, because it does cover everything and in great detail. Sometimes, when you're getting started, you just want to know the basics, get some big successes under your belt quickly, and learn the very most important aspects of the technology so you can become effective and productive in a short time. So, if you want to learn Hibernate quickly and easily, I'd really recommend picking up a copy of my book.
My Hibernate Book Reviews and SuggestiosnAlso check out the reviews on amazon.com about the two books. I think you'll find that popular opinion reflects what I've said here - that everyone needs JPWH, but for learning quickly and making it a bit fun, Hibernate Made Easy is a good choice as well!
