I am very familiar with the process of reverse engineering existing database via the reveng.xml file. However I would like to know if it possible to specify relational mappings between classes of value types and existing database tables as describe in Chapter 6 of the "Java Persistence with Hibernate book" by Christian Bauer and Gavin King?

Thanks!

Tonté

Bummer! Do you know if there are plans to include valuetypes in the reveng.xml file; and if so when can we expected support for value types in the future? It would've be nice if the hibernate tool reference guide documentation made this distinction crystal clear.

But o'well.

Thanks!

No plans - want to contribute ?

The reference guide explicitly states it is about entities and if you want to do advanced/custom mappings you should write mappings files.

Not sure what we can write beyond that ?

Yes I would like to contribute but not sure how to go about that. I have already added some customization to my reverse engineering process that I would like to contribute to the community.

Create a patch, open a jira and attach it there - it's that simple :p

I am kind of embarrassed to admit this, but I never created a patch before. I will check my Pragmatic Subversion book to see how to do this, over the weekend.
