Can you please explain me the exact behaviour of unsaved-value attribute in <id> tag.

If you don't understand what this is for after reading the manual, then you almost certainly don't need to worry about it. The unsaved-value tells Hibernate how to distinguish new/transient/unsaved detached instances from existing persistent ones.
