Hibernate search version: 3.1.0.GA

Is the index base directory created automatically (if it doesn't exist) during loading of application?

In my case it doesn't and I don't know is it my problem or not.

The base directory (the one you configure) should exist at startup. The actual index subdirectories and files will be generated.
