When an association is lazyloaded, the collection property in the model class is actually a container of proxies. Because my collection contains instances of various classes filled thanks to a discriminator, I want to write something like this:

MyCollection.OfType<DerivedType>().Single()

Unfortunately, OfType returns empty because the collection contains the proxies and not the expected type. How to solve this?
