Afaik RAD is based on Eclipse 3.0 and not Eclipse 3.2 nor 3.3 so it probably won't work.

That said, RAD works fine with unzipping plugins since it is just a eclipse installation but if you want to use the update manager use the update site which is linked to at http://tools.hibernate.org
