For a certain customer, I need to defend the choice for Hibernate. Especially in the light of the performance issues they are experiencing. I know Hibernate is built for performance and scalability (see http://www.hibernate.org/15.html), but it would be of great help to me if I had a few names of large companies that use it. I've read http://www.hibernate.org/113.html; does anyone know more companies?

Comparing to raw jdbc, performance is not the best point about hibernate, unless you are allowed to use a second level cache (More structured and easier to mantain applications are the true advantages of hibernate). A second level cache, prevents many unnecesary accesses to database, and highly increases performance, but keep in mind that changes made in database by other applicattions, won't be updated in the cache.

I know that there are many large companies using Hibernate. But when you are talking about performance, it depends on the applicaiton, not the just the company. Not every application in a large company needs the absolute highest level of performance.

I forgot the references. I am working for an spanish company of 3.000 employees (sorry, can't tell the name), and we use hibernate in some apps for several clients (including spanish government) I've been also working with Soluziona (Now part of Indra, the biggest spanish informatic company), and they also use hibernate for some projects.
