The compatibility matrix on Hibernate's download page: http://www.hibernate.org/6.html#A3 states that the current version of Hibernate Tools is not compatible with the latest versions of Core and Annotations.

Is there a timetable for making Tools compatible with the latest versions of these other libraries?

It just haven't been tested fully.

btw. the resulting output works fine with all H3.x versions of hibernate no matter which core lib you use..

No, I haven't actually tried it yet - the compatibility matrix kind of scared me off from doing so.

If it's definitely planned to be a supported configuration, I'll try it out in the coming weeks.
