I am currently using hibernate to parse various files into a FinancialAccount(FA) table, Position(POS) table. My FA can have many Positions. Can I EASILY use hibernate to sum all Positions for a given account into a single FA?

Or do I have to stick with what I have now?, which is:
for each FA id, get the positions and sum them, then save to FA

Can hibernate handle this summing for me??
I know this may be stupid, but I am trying to fully understand hibernate's power!
: )

Hibernate can be made to do pretty much anything.
Try redirecting this question to the user group as this list is for the tools.

Thanks.

That is because you only asked questions, but never helped someone out enough for him to give you a credit.

You believe asking more than 10 questions on a free community forum is totally ok without helping other newbies ? Well then I guess we just have to disagree.
