Which privileges to retrieve table meta data from oracle?

Hello,

which privileges are necessary for hibernate to retrieve the table meta data from an Oracle 10g database?

To read data you need read rights.

Hello Cameron,

I granted select on the tables I use but I get an error-message when hibernate starts up if I set hbm2ddl.auto to update. The message says that hibernate is unable to read the metadata for that table. Unfortunately I don't know which privileges are necessary to read the table-metadata.

works fine for my table.

It works after granting the "ANALYSE ANY" system prifilege to my database user.
