Need help with Hibernate? Read this first:
http://www.hibernate.org/ForumMailingli ... AskForHelp

Hibernate version: 3.2

I've installed Hibernate Tools into Eclipse 3.3 using the Eclipse updating mechanism.

Although I see many new perspectives and views, what I don't ever see is the "Hibernate Mapping and Configuration File Editor" as described in section 3.6 of the manual.

Whenever I edit or create a configuration or mapping file, I only see the XML Editor. The enhanced Hibernate config file editor is never presented as an option.

What am I missing?

I had to install the full JBoss toolset, not just the Hibernate tools.

huh ?! No - hibernate tools does not require the full jboss toolset.

Please run eclipse with -debug and let me know what shows up in the error log when you only have hibernate tools installed.

Perhaps not the whole JBoss toolset but something more than just the Hibernate Tools themselves was required. I tried installing and reinstalling, and only when I took the entire JBoss toolset did I see the editor.

I have it running now, so I'm reluctant to take it down, but if you are interested in the experiment and will provide me with the exact listing of what should be required to get a minimal Hibernate Tool set running under Eclipse 3.3 (no JBoss, no Spring, just Basic Hibernate), I will be willing to revert my configuration and try again.

aah....i missed it was the tree editor you were out to get. Yes, that requires the core/full jboss tools set.

Without it you should get "normal" code completion, but no tree editing.
