Is hibernate second level object cache (query caching turned off) supposed to work only for object loading (get or load) and not for queries(HQL)?

One more thing that might help is that when query cache is enabled entities will be fetched from L2 cache since query cache only keeps entity ids and not entities themselves.

Query caching does not suit my purposes as the tables I am interested in are not static. They are updated frequently.
