I am currently working on web based application and used hibernate and found its criteria queries feature very much useful.

Now I want to use hibernate with Swing based application also.

My question is: How a swing based application will read hibernate.cfg.xml file?

Just read hibernate.cfg.xml when your application starts (main-method), very similar as in a web-application.
