I've seen some mention of this in the trunk log and I've also noticed that alot of stub code has been created around this future feature. Is it still going to make it into the 2.0 feature set?

I know this isn't necessarily considered a huge feature, however, think about the potential for not loading large blob fields by default. This would be a huge performance gain for the direct object queries.
