We'd like to get the benefit of a fix that has been implemented in Hibernate EntityManager 3.3.1, but our use of Hibernate is thoroughly and exclusive native (Core).

I'm afraid I know the answer to this, but I need to ask just the same: what is the policy planned for Hibernate maintenance in this respect? Will applications need to migrate to JPA in order to get the benefit of fixes (functional and performance) or will fixes also be applied to the native API?
