Hello i need to apply the Restriction.in to a whole entity and not to a particular property. Is it possible with Criteria API?

Needed is something like:

Code:
createCriteria(Cat.class).add(Restriction.in(ROOT_ENTITY,preselectedCatsCollection))...

I don't have any answer to your question but was wondering about the usecase. If you already have the collection of entities, why would you like to query again for them?

Its an intersection: i've got a collection of entities and i wish to intersect it with some other set of entities. The use case is, if i would iterate over the given collection within java, it would perform a huge number of subselects because of lazy fetching (what would perfrorm badly). If i restrict my java operation to getting a PKs and enable the joins / immediate fetching with another (criteria) query, i save over 75% of runtime.

I have a solution with a simple HQL Query, but the Criteria query would be conceptually better (eleganter) here.
