Do we need to provide equals method in all our hibernate pojos? Does hibernate try to invoke this method internally to check equality of objects etc?

u only need to provide yr own implementation of equals() and hashCode() if there are any specific checks. If u dont provide any, hibernate will use the native equals() / hashCode() provided by JRE
