I've been asked to install Hybernate for one of my users, but I find that instructions for the procedure are rather sketchy. The only thing I can find is in the readme.txt file in the distribution directory. My apology if there's something else that I've missed - please enlighten me.

--otherwise--
From the readme.txt file:

Get Up And Running Quick
------------------------
Demo:

(1) copy your JDBC driver to the lib directory
What specific file, what specific directory?

(2) edit etc/hibernate.properties
Any guidance on what to change for what effect?

(3) run "ant eg" or "build eg"
# ant eg
file:/tmp/hibernate-3.2/build.xml:94: Unexpected element "import"

# sh ./build.sh eg

libgcj-java-placeholder.sh

This script is a placeholder for the /usr/bin/java
master link required by jpackage.org conventions. libgcj's
(etc)

(4) browse the sourcecode in eg/org/hibernate/auction
Sorry, I'm not a Java programmer

Many Thanks,
Al

Click on the big red button in the middle of the page on http://www.hibernate.org/ that says "QUICK START".

"libgcj-java-placeholder.sh"

And don't use GCJ, use Java.
