Force collection queries to use INNER JOIN

Is there any way to force an eagerly loaded collection to be loaded via an INNER JOIN instead of an OUTER JOIN?

you can with a query but not through the mappings. You do not want to do this in your mappings because it will limit the results to only those entities that have collection values.

inner joins can be specified with hql or a criteria query.
