 Post subject: Does Hibernate work with 3 N level Databases

Our database is a 3rd level Normailized database and the application is in production.
We are currently using JDBC calls in Data Access layer.
The application 's performance has been decreasing with growth of data.
The existing queries are quite complicated and involve complex joins.
Is it recommended to use Hibernate with 3rd level normalized Database?
