I don't know whether this is a problem with Spring, Hibernate, Oracle, or WebLogic, but I have to start somewhere :) .

I have an app using Spring 1.2.1, Hibernate 3.0.5, JDK 1.4.2, and WebLogic 8.1.4.

When I start up the app and start sending messages to it, it's able to read and write with jdbc fine. I can send a stream of messages to it with no problem. However, if I let it sit idle for a few minutes and then send a message to it, I see the exception that follows this (I only included the "cause" here). When this happens, after I restart the server, it's fine again.

Oracle, reset your idle connection (time out).

Please check your connection pool settings, that connections get validated before they are given to an app.
