A is mapped to B with a primary foreign key. Bidirectional one-to-one mappings used.

HQL: "Select a, b from A a join a.b b" works perfectly..

BUT

HQL "Select a, b, 'Some scalar' as c from A a join a.b b"

Returns "a" and the scalar "c" correctly, but NULLs out b

I've built a reduced and ready-to-run demo of this, but can't upload it. JIRA posting doesn't seem to be working (or I'm not allowed)

I need to be able to return scalars and instances together. If there's some work-around I'd appreciate hearing about it as soon as possible.
