 Post subject: mutable="true" problem with hibernate-mapping file

I have already set the mutable="true" in my hbm file
So i am not able to update the table.
But i am able to delete the table.
Kindly explain me wht is this mutable property in hibernate-mapping file

Immutable classes, mutable="false", may not be updated or deleted by the application. This allows Hibernate to make some minor performance optimizations.
