Generating finders in v3.1 beta Hibernate Tools

I see that "finder" has been suggested as an (temporary) alternative for "finder-method" as a meta attribute in .hbm.xml mapping files. Neither of these seems to work in v3.1 (nor are they mentioned in the tools reference Chapter 6).

Has this been dropped?

So 3.1 has less functionality than 2.1 in some places?
I see no mention of this in the Hibernate 3 Migration Guide.

Regarding the migration guide we should probably mention it, but until Hibernate 3 the tools were not really considered a part of hibernate.

The finders were inherently bad and not-maintained; sorry but that is reality and thus I removed them. I've done my best to maintain the same functionallity as for Hibernate 2 and there are definitly more features in there than before (for finders the replacement is in the hbm2dao afaik)

Please note that I never removed anything without calling out for the original contributor to maintain the broken parts.
