I think I am missing something very obvious. But I could not figure it out what is wrong: I could not get my hibernate configuration files to be opened with the editors provided by the hibernate tools!

I have a clean eclipse install v3.2M5, then applied the JBoss IDE plugin, then the hibernate tools. However, when I right click on my hibernate mapping, or config, or reverse engineer file, I don't see the hibernate editors show up in the available editors list.

I also used the eclipse v3.1 weeks ago and had the same problem, could not get the editor to show so I can use it.

I did read the hibernate tool doc, didn't mention how to open the editor. Searched the forum, but too many irrelevant results. It seems that this should be a very dummy proof thing because no one seems like having this problem.

Do I need to install the WTP?

Oh, I had maunally go in the preferences, added .xml file type to the file associates list, but then I could only find the reverse engineer editor from the availble editor list.

Help please! Thanks!

hibernate tools enhances the WPT xml editor so there is no special hibernate tools xml editor. Just open it ;)

(and I don't yet promise that it will run flawless on eclipse 3.2.x, only 3.1.x)

Thanks for the reply. Does this mean I need to install the Eclipse Web Tool Platform plugin?

no, it means what i says ;) I can't guarantee it works on eclipse 3.2.

We come bundled with the necessary parts from WTP.

I switched back to 3.1.2 and tested it and you are absolutely right. It worked for 3.1.2, but not for 3.2 milestone build which I am using.

Really hope it can be addressed as soon as possible.

Thanks for the help!

As a developer, I'd love to fix it myself :)

Problem is I have no plugin development experiences and have no prior knowledge of the hibernate tool codes. However, I will try to troubleshoot it slowly whenever I get some times, until it is fixed by me or by the hibernate dev team :)
