@javax.persistence.Lob(type=LobType.CLOB)
@Column(length=65535)
public String getContent() {
... }

I used Debug to trace it. The content run time type is a string, not java.sql.Clob.
I expect it to be lazy loading, but it is eager. 64K in memory.
Did I miss something?

it can't be lazy loaded since I transfer the clob into a String.

You can lazy load it using enhanced classes and @Basic(fetch=LAZY)
