Can I use NVL in hql?

Code:
strQuery = " personId, personName, maleOrFemale, NVL(isActiveMember,'N') as ActiveMember from Person ";

objQuery = objSession.createQuery(strQuery);
listPeople = objQuery.list();

Exception is as follows
Exception : org.hibernate.PropertyAccessException: exception setting property value with CGLIB (set hibernate.cglib.use_reflection_optimizer=false for more info)

Can somebody please tell me where i have to set this so that i can get detailed information?

Regards
Ahmad
