I have a book category that is a tree structure. When user seach category A, it should return all books of category A and its child categories.

category table
---------------------------------
ID name Parent-category

Book
-----------------------------
ID title author category

Do I have to retrieve all the books from DB and check their categories? If this is the case, very inefficient and consuming all momeries.

Can Hibernate help?
Ideas/suggestion appreciated.

Please go to the regular user forum, this is not EJB 3.0 related. You might want to read the documentation about the available fetching options in Hibernate.
