Hi,

I do not know, how start using XML Mapping editor from Hibernate Tools Eclipse plugin.

I installed a new instance of Eclipse 3.1.1 and Hibernate Tools 3.1.0 beta1 plugin (I'm using MS XP).
I created new java project and a first mapping file (test.hbm.xml) within it. Unfortunatelly, I'm not able to open and edit this file using a XML Mapping editor from Hibernate Tools plugin.
Certainly, I can use text or xml editor, which are part of an eclipse, but this is not the way I'm looking for ...

Please, can anybody help me? What do I do wrong?

Thanks.

Hi,

Download the latest version of JBoss Ide for Eclipse which bundels Hibernate Tools. This can be downloaded from.

there isn't different xml mapping editor - you have adding features only
if you have outline with first attribute in node then you have xml mapping editor
if not, then you have clean your eclipse install - your eclispe dont' recognize hibernate tools plugin
it is better remove ECLIPSE_HOME/configuration/org.eclispe.* directories and restart eclipse

jbosside 1.5 is too old

Hi, I'm an idiot. I thought that there should be a special editor for this task (I've been confused by other plugin I used earlier).
Thanks.

It seems that I also have this issue, I am not sure what you mean by "here isn't different xml mapping editor", it seems that at least the hibernate configure file hibernate.cfg.xml and other mapping file should be colored on key words, and also should complete some property automatically, but this is not true for me.

please advise.

Thanks

And I followed above two suggestions, and neither is working for me, my XML file is still like a plain txt file.

Any advise on this will be appreciated.

Thanks
