Hi

I installed beta1 of hibernate tools with WTP 0.7 and all it's requirements.

I can open the reverse engineering xml conf file without a problem, but when I try to open the config file or a hibernate mapping file I get the error:
"model has no JFace adapter factory"
in the plugin org.eclipse.wst.sse.ui with no stack trace or any other info.
It then opens up in the default XML editor. The file is also associated with the default XML editor accoring to the icon.
The DTD mappings seems to be correct.

Any help would be appreciated

thanks
Gerhard

you just get an entry in the log, correct? the program works normal otherwise or ?

I have heard about this before, but have never been able to reproduce it consistently.

Hi Max

Yes, the HQL scratchpad works including the hibernate entity model, query translator and query result.
I can reverse engineer artifacts.

I'm using JDK 1.4.2 for the project although eclipse uses JDK 1.5.0
eclipse 3.1.1 (have tried 3.1.0)
wtp 0.7.0
emf 2.1.0
gef 3.1.1 (have tried 3.1.0)
jem 1.1.0

I'ce tried starting with -clean

Do you have any suggestions?

i think that you have wtp 0.7.1 (not wtp 0.7) - wtp 0.7.1 have bug in xml editor

you can reporduce it simple :

install wtp 0.7.1 except wtp 0.7 -
open error log view
define ant files (for example *.jrxml) content type for xml edtior
open any *jrxml file and try typing

you will have error log when open "model has no JFace adapter factory" and NPE when typing

snpesnpe that error has nothing to do with errors showing when using hibernate tools. The error message is printed by the hibernate tools, not WTP and they are only activated on <hibernate-mapping> files.

again, I have tried to install wtp in various shapes and sizes, but never been able to reproduce the original error reported here.

no, error is printed with wtp (it exists without hibernate tools in wtp 0.7.1 - it is bug in wtp 0.7.1 - bug is resolved in last wtp, but last wtp don't work with hibernate tools)
hibernate tools have nothing with this error
I think that is in XMLContentOutlineConfiguration#getFactory() ( i don't sure;i use currently wtp 10152005 and this method doesn't exists more)

you don't install wtp 0.7.1 probably if you try upgrade from 0.7 - try remove
ECLIPSE_HOME/configuration/org.eclipse.* (and restart with -clean and readd extensions)
or install complete new eclipse configuration

you will reproduce bug simple

snpesnpe - so as i said: Don't mix these two errors! The original error has to do with hibernate tools (but i cannot reproduce it) - the other one is something with WTP which I would like you to keep on the wtp forums and not repeat here since it is not relevant for the tools.

do you try complete fresh install (eclipse, emf, gef, jem, wtp 0.7.1,hibernate-tools) ?

upgrade plugins for eclipse 3.1.x doesn't work good (eclipse cache plugin and no reload new one)
