I install Hibernate tool 3.1.0 beta1 with eclipse 3.1 by copying all files of plugin and feature directory like normal eclipse plugin.

But after I open eclipse, it does not show in "eclipse feature". I open "product configuration", and it shows this tool has some problem.

Are there some conclicts in my eclipse? (This eclipse is quick clean and it does not have too many other plugins.) Must I use JbossIDE? I cannot use normal Eclipse IDE? Thanks!

" I open "product configuration", and it shows this tool has some problem." ...such as ?

(and no, you dont need jbosside for it - did you try to use the updatemanager ? that worked for me those 5 times i verified the installation)

I have similar problems.
What I have done:

  1. extract Eclipse 3.1 to c:\Programme\eclipse-hibernate
  2. extract HibernateTools-3.1.0.beta1.zip to c:\Programme\eclipse-hibernate
  3. call C:\Programme\eclipse\eclipse.exe -clean -data D:\Daten\Sandbox\eclipse\workspace-hibernate (the workspace does not exists before)
  4. Help -> About -> Plug-in Details

-> no Hibernate plugins!???

I have not found any log file neither in my workspace nor in the eclipse-hibernate directory.

Any help? Any suggestion?

Thank you for your prompt answer.

There are two things wrong. The first one was my confusing about different Eclipse installations and workspaces. This was my problem and I have fixed it.
After fixing, I see the plugins and no errors in the Error Log View. I can create a Hibernate configuration, fine. But the XML editor was not available neither with a simple double click on a hbm.xml file nor in the file association dialog.
The solution for this problem was to install it by the Eclipse -> Help -> Software Updates:
http://download.jboss.org/jbosside/updates/development/
After installing the Hibernate Plugin in this way it works fine.

I do not know the difference between extracting the ZIP into myECLIPSE_HOME and installing by the internet, but now it works.

Again thank you for help and sorry for my confusing.

I had the same problem, no XML Mapping editor at all after a fresh installation. Then I treid Kai's tip and it works. There is one difference in the eclipse\plugins directory, the
Code:
org.eclipse.wst.common.uriresolver_0.7.0
dir is missing in the
Code:
HibernateTools-3.1.0.beta1.zip

After copying it from a resh WTP download or via this update mechanism it works.[/quote]

I had the same problem with eclipse 3.1.0 and hibernate tools 3.1.0 beta 2.
Eclipse 3.1.1 is fine.
