How do I change how apostrophes are escaped?

Hibernate version: 2.1.7

Name and version of the database you are using:DBC

I'm using the GenericDialect to talk to DBC. It works fine except Hibernate is trying to escape apostrophes in a string with another apostrophe, but DBC wants a backslash. How can I change this behaviour? I assumed it was dialect specific but I can not see in the Dialect class or any of it's subclasses where escape characters are specified. Can someone point me in the right direction of how Hibernate is doing this?

I think I need a little more help. I created a class that extends GenericDialiect and added QUOTE and CLOSE_QUOTE just as it is in Dialect, but changed the ` to \\.
