When migrating from 2.1.8 to 3.0.5, I realized DBCP connection pooling went unsupported (at least under org.hibernate.connection.DBCPConnectionProvider).
So I browse the forum and found many threads praizing Proxool.

After spending quite some time configuring it, I realize those guys haven't release anything since december 14th, 2003! Last post on the site is from july 2004. They still don't provide any DataSource implementation.

Looks like the definitive choice is C3p0, isn't it?

cheers,

I've been wondering the same. I upgraded to Hibernate 3, saw that DBCP was dropped, but the Proxool page (222.html) says it has gotten less convenient to use, and I've been struggling with c3p0 and note that it is in beta release.
