Just a quick question about how smart the hibernate 2nd level cache is:

Is the nonexistance of an object cached?

That is, if I do two finds on the primary key of an object that doesn't exist, does the second call result in a DB query?

Non-existence is not cached.

Oh well. I can work around that, but it would be useful for entities with natural keys. The query cache will cache the fact that the result set was empty, right?



I created my own, taking Frank and a couple other friends with me. I can't publicly announce what we're doing, but it will be a very high-profile use of JBoss and Hibernate in the gaming space. I can tell you about it offline :-)
