 Post subject: how to persist an image to MSSql using hibernate.urgent!!!

i want to store images in database.when i select the data type of column to be image and generate its hibernate mapping using hibernate date types the .hbm.xml file shows its type as serializable and when i generate the mapping using java data types it shows its type as string.i tried to persist with both the types but i always get classcastexception.please help me out
