Hello,

I am sorry to say this but before I see a running example I won't believe hundreds of "Hello World" examples.

Would someone please forward me to a source code of Chapter2 "hello world" example.

Source code is not complete in text book and I can not get it running.

Regards,
Mac

Christian,

Thank you but I am looking for HelloWorld example in chapter2. (I have insisted this in title and body)

If I can not run the example in chapter 2 then it has been almost useless. (I agree that I have learned something about how hibernate works but I have not been able to do what a "hello world" example should do).

I have started hibernate 3 times (after buying this book) but every time I am forced to return to JDBC after I have not been able to run the example from chapter2!

Regards,
Mac

I'm sorry, but then I can not help you as I've done my best to describe it in the book. Maybe others can, http://www.hibernate.org/Documentation/ ... sTutorials

Oh sorry. I did not know that you are the author of the book.

Really thank you for your help.

Hi,

I have just managed to get the HelloWorld example (with some minor changes) to work.

Let me know your email address and I will send zip file.

Regards,
Graeme

Why would you even consider using a three year (!) old tutorial with three year old Hibernate versions? Just use the latest one from http://caveatemptor.hibernate.org/ - the new introduction chapters is even freely downloadable.

This thread helped me understand that the code written is the book isn't directly usable - as the HibernateUtil class and the persistence package aren't described.

If there is a new printing (i got the second printing), maybe considering a little disclaimer - like, "the source has to be downloaded as all classes from this tutorial aren't given in the book" would be very useful.

I have been misleaded as the book tells us to download hibernate and hsqldb but not the example source.

EVERY CLASS AND DETAIL REQUIRED TO RUN THE HELLOWORLD EXAMPLE IS SHOWN IN THE BOOK CHAPTER 2. THERE IS NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD ANY SAMPLE SOURCE. IF YOU DID NOT FIND THE HibernateUtil CLASS, YOU MIGHT WANT TO SIMPLY READ _ALL_ OF THE CHAPTER. IT IS SHOWN IN CODE LISTING 2.6.

BY THE WAY, THIS THREAD WAS ABOUT THE BOOK 'HIBERNATE IN ACTION'. NOT THE BOOK 'JAVA PERSISTENCE WITH HIBERNATE'. MY COMMENT IS ABOUT JPWH.
