Hibernate version:
Hibernate 3.0 rc1, tools 3.0 alpha 1

The finder code generated by the 3.0 alpha 1 tools tries to use the find method of the Session interface, but that method no longer exists. That is, the code is identical to that produced by the 2.1 tools except for s/net.sf/org/.

Is there any workaround besides waiting for the next build of the toolset?

no - and the old hbm2java is deprecated.

and in the new toolset the finder renderer probably wont be included since its based on the old codegenerator.

A finder renderer contribution would be very welcomed.

It is still documented in the manual without a deprecation warning. What should I be using instead? Are the Eclipse plug-ins now the only non-deprecated tools?

Is hbm2ddl deprecated as well?

the eclipse tools run the new hbm2java engine.

you will be able to use them as you used hbm2java before via ant.

Except at the moment i dont have a replacement for FinderRenderer.

hbm2ddl is not deprecated - and please note it is only the old implementation of the hbm2java engine that is deprecated. (it was an error/bug to include it in the last tool release)

I designated my mapping file in the Hibernate Console configuration using the file picker, but when I try to run Create Session Factory, the mapping file is not found. Run SchemaExport is dimmed in the context menu and code generation is not offered.

The config dialog wanted me to provide the classpath to POJO. What's POJO?

Do you mean that option is not available yet? I did not find any documentation on creating a hbm2java Ant task.

POJO = Plain Old Java Objects.

It is the classpath of your domain objects and jdbc driver that is required for hibernate console to work.

Its probably better to use "persistent classes", not "POJO" in the UI. That is what the documentation uses.

My classpath was OK. Still, I cannot find the hbm2java functionality in the UI of the Eclipse plug-in.
