Hi,

I got the above quote from a reply to a question posted in this forum. Problem is that in very rare circumstances this functionality is useful.

In my case, I have a User table with a natural key on userId. The table also contains First Name, Last Name, etc. I have a screen in which a user can type substrings for userId, First Name, Last Name to retrieve all records that match. QBE is the perfect candidate to implement this functionality (as mentioned elsewhere). However, the Achile's heel is the limitation mentioned above.

Is there a workaround for this issue?

Thanks,
Vladimir

Add a request to JIRA, I think it makes sense in the case of an embedded composite id.

However, there is an easy workaround. Just add criterion...

Gavin,

Thanks. Just added one line of code and it worked. What is JIRA?

Hibernate 3.1.3.

Can I use QBE using a match on objects (as criteria) that are not String types?

Thanks.

Josh.
