 Post subject: Persisting history/version?

Does Hibernate have functionality for "object version history"?

What I mean is, that every time I persist an object I want the object's history persisted as well - so I could, for example, subsequently request that object as it was on such and such a date in the past (not just the currently existing version in the database).
