i downloaded workshop_toolset_java and used it to generate mapping file and java object from database,but with the sample in it,everytime i generated hbm files,i got all the table mapping files from the database,can i only define the tables that i want to generate the hbm files?

you mean this?

It uses the middlegen ant task. If the database contains many tables and you want to generate code only for a subset of them, you can declare them in nested table elements under the middlegen Ant task
