Building Hibernate 2.2

Has anyone been able to build Hibernate 2.2 on their own? I checked out Hibernate 2 on the v22branch and attempted to build the project but got problems with classes. So, I added the JUnit jar to my $ANT_HOME/lib folder and built again and was getting antlr NoClassDefFound errors. I also tried building the project in a new IntelliJ project with no luck. Should I be able to build the v22branch?

No, you shouldn't. Please read the CVS section on the Download page again.

Fair enough. How do I go about getting features of the 2.2 release in a release that I might build? I need the lock hints feature for the SQLServerDialect (HB760). Do I have to wait until at least a nightly build of 2.2?

Also read the road map, there is no Hibernate 2.2.

I see that Hibernate 3 is the next major release. How would I go about applying the patch so I can get the locking hints behavior?
