So, what's all this then?

Building upon the industry-leading object-relational mapping capabilities of JBoss's Hibernate module, the companies will jointly build and support an open source driver optimizing the integration between Hibernate and the open sourced Ingres.

"JBoss' Hibernate module"? What the... ?

Are they saying that JBoss will have a module for Hibernate + Ingres integration? Or are they saying the Hibernate is just a module of JBoss?
Relax, I'm kidding :)

I'm actually really quite happy that CA recognises Hibernate as being the O/R mapping tool of choice - "industry-leading" even!.
Boy, am I ever going to have some great discussion with the CA support people that told us to use CA OpenRoad instead. Ha! :)

This should make some great ammunition for people trying to push usage of Hibernate in their organisation, eh? Even if they don't use Ingres (hard to believe as that may be) they can say "Look, CA thinks Hibernate is a worthy product".

Are they talking about a new Ingres JDBC driver? Or are there plans afoot for a new/improved Ingres Dialect for Hibernate?

What's new here is:

(1) Ingres is being open sourced, with a very similar business model to JBoss
(2) It is likely that Ingres support in Hibernate (ie. the dialect) will be improved
(3) I imagine that you will soon be able to get Hibernate support OEM'd with Ingres support, something like that

On several places I see that Ingress IS supported by Hibernate. Where can I get the dialect files and/ot configuration for Hibernate 3.0?
