Is there a feature in Hibernate that let's me get an XML representation of my hibernate objects ? If so, can someone point me in the right direction.

We use JAXB to marshal the object tree. Of course, this requires you to define an XSD for your objects. For us it works well, because we pass XML files both ways. The only caveat with doing it both ways is that you have to remember to "break" the child-knows-about-parent link before marshalling.
