Is anyone running Hibernate on an IBM mainframe zOS or OS/390? Not just accessing a mainframe DB2 database, but actually running in a JVM in the Open MVS (aka Unix System Services) environment ?

That's what I'm planning to do and so would like to hear from you.

What version of zOS, Java, DB2, etc. ? Did you run under Websphere; if so which version ? What tips can you share; what problems did you solve ?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice,
Ken.

Ooooh someone was asking me about that recently. Apparently the biggest problem is that you will have to backport Hibernate to the older JDK version (this is perhaps doable). If you try to do this, please keep us informed about your progress, I know other people are trying to run Hibernate in this environment.

OK. I'll be using it with the 1.3 JVM at first. The 1.4 is available to us, but we have not yet installed it.

I'm still at the very beginning stages of Hibernate, and am working with it on a Windows/DB2 UDB machine first.

I'll let you know how it goes......

Ken.

Oh, if you have a 1.3 JDK you should not have problems, I guess. I understood that there was no 1.3 JVM for this platform.
