DocBook XML, FOP/Batik and Ant. It's all in the Hibernate CVS module. It's not really comfortable or fast, but it works sometimes.

When I re-create the pdf, I have to go through the resulting file and enter bookmarks for all the chapters. The internal links within the chapters work, but I have to open that chapter, click on the first link in it, then page up to the beginning.

I have the professional Acrobat, so it isn't difficult to add bookmarks, but it is a pain to have to do this every time I rebuild.

Is it possible to update the pdf creation to include bookmarks for the chapters?

I noticed that bug too. I suppose it is possible to correct it, but I don't want to go there: This is a special PDF extension for Acrobat made available by some special switch in some special Open Source code.
