Sign "diffent" in session.find() ?

Hi,

Is it possible to use a sign "! =" (different) instead of "=" in the follwing query ?

Code:

List cats = sess.find("from Cat as cat where cat.birthdate = ?",
date, Hibernate.DATE );

I did not find an answer in the documentation.
